I remember a day where my dad was very worried about us

Shahd Alkurdi is a  13 year old girl from Damascus, Syria

I came to Denmark on February 16th 2015 with my mother and my brother. We flew here, mother had been granted family reunification with my dad. I was 10 years old when I arrived in Denmark, today I am 13 years old.

From Syria I remember things were rough. I could see my country fall apart, be destroyed with my own eyes. We lived in a place where there was a good view. You could see the entire city. Shahin was a wedding photographer

Shahin Abdo is a  21 year old man from Mosul, Iraq.

I came to Denmark in 2015. I work at the airport, first cleaning up, but now I’m gonna work at a restaurant.

I went to high school in Iraq. I had a dream of studying English at the university. After that, I dreamt of becoming a pilot. I worked after school, fixing phones at my fathers shop, and as a photographer. When someone got married in my city, I was the one who took the pictures. I did that for three and a half years. Aheds new beginning in Denmark

I come from Damascus, Syria. I came to Denmark februrary 16th 2015, when I was 7 years old. From Syria, I remember a time where there was no war. Im a woman, a mother, a lawyer, not a refugee

I was born in Lebanon and have four sisters. We moved to Syria because we are Syrian. I grew up in Aleppo with my mother because my dad died when I was 3 years old. My mom struggled to get education. Studied and worked in the university. I got my education at the university of Aleppo, where I studied international criminal law. I started my training with a lawyer, and after that I had my own company as a lawyer since 2005. I worked very hard. I made a good reputation. Had a good job, and good customers. Alaa startede et nyt liv i Danmark

Jeg havde et spændende og godt liv i Syrien. Jeg er uddannet filminstruktør og arbejdede med medier, dubbing til film og tv. Jeg gik på universitetet i Damaskus. Hvis man kommer fra den rette familie eller har den rette forbindelse, så kan man komme på universitetet der, ellers er det svært at få en videregående uddannelse. Mahmouds long way to Denmark

I went to school in Syria until 5th class. I didn not finish school, father has school in Damascus, and I went to help him there at the factory.
