Family comes first!

Nbila Salal is a 60 year old woman, from Syria, Palestine

I have 3 boys and 1 girl, I am a housewife, I waited for three years for family reunification. First time I got a rejection, I wasn’t allowed to go to Denmark, although my 16 year old daughter was in Denmark. I got stress and chok from the war while waiting to go to Denmark. Now we are all here in Denmark. There were many difficulties, many challenges for us.

Before the war, Syria was a happy place to live. My husband was rich, had a factory, and we had a nice house, that was built by a famous architect. I worked there as a designer for my husband. Now the factory is not there anymore. The factory is controlled by the ISIS and the free army.

Our house is still there, but empty. Today, I am very happy, because I am with my family, but the weather here isn’t good, and I still have family in Syria, that I am very close with. I worry about them. I go to school to learn Danish, Mondays-Wednesdays. “hvor kommer du fra, hvad hedder du”, and I am very pleased to see my daughter again. That is what I am most happy with. To see my close family and be next to them. I am very proud because my kids are best integrated, speak Danish fluently, and my daughter goes to school, learning to be a hairstylist. I am very happy to be in Denmark, the nature is so beautiful here.
